In the Black

I desperately need a financial makeover.  I am not a buget-nista.  I have a really hard time sticking to a monthly budget.  I actually have a spreadsheet and everything.  My budget spreadsheet is the most neglected application on my laptop right now!  I recently came across this weekly check up on my new favorite blog:  my pretty pennies, check it out if you have a time its really cool!

The Weekly Money Check-Up is a fill-in-the blank post that I am going to start doing once a week. The first four questions will always be the same each week and the fifth will be different. Do it with me? Fill in the blanks in the comments section and/or post it on your blog and link back here and here.

1. The most I’ve spent this last week was on:  roof repairs!

2. Today I feel:   uneasy towards money.

3. Money can’t buy happiness. One free/inexpensive thing I did last week that made me happy was:  Spend time with my family, although, they really should start paying me for my company!

4. I will consider this week a success if:  I pack my lunch everyday and resist the urge to spend money on Starbuck's coffee, more shoes, oh and a pedicure, this is sooo painful.

5. The TV show I am most excited about this season is: Hawaii 5-0!

Have a happy week!

Monochromatic with a hint of Denim

jacket: GAP (thrifted)
flower on jacket is a pin
scarf:  ?
sweater:  H&M
pant:  Banana Republic
boots:  Nine West

Fall is here and this felt like a very Fall friendly combo.  I was unsure if pairing all the browns together  would work, but I think it came together rather nicely.  What do you think?

I love these Banana Republic wool pants.  These pants have a great fit, are very classic, and will last for years, trust me I received these for Christmas 2 years ago, thanks MOM

I purchased this same jacket a few years ago and sadly it fell apart.  I wore it holes, rips and all.  Then, one sad day, I lost a sleeve.  OK, OK, CONFESSION---it was also a size too small so some of the rips may have been caused due to the TIGHT snug fit.  Fast forward last month, I came across this jacket, brand new for $11 at Village Thrift in Camden, New Jersey, clap for me........ Oh yea, its a medium!

F21 Anyone?

What's on your radar for fall?  I rediscovered F21 (Forever 21) and found  several key pieces that I would like to add to my closet for the fall.  First, I must purge some things I am currently hoarding!  No, I know hoarding sounds like a strong word, but I have some stuff from the early 80's I think.  Not good retro 80's gear either.  I digress, below are a few of the items I hope (will) to  purchase after I sell a few things.  On October 9, I will be selling some of my bad  items at a flea market, more details to come...

I am on the fence about the overall quality of the clothes from F21.  However, I find if you take them to the cleaners, wash them  by hand or on the delicate cycle they hold up pretty well, Happy Shopping!

Let it rain, I got new boots!!!!!!!

It has been raining buckets here for the last few days.  We did get a short break from the rain over the weekend.  Just long enough for me to snag some great new rain boots.  These great boots were only $29.99 at TJ Maxx!  Yup,  $29.99.  I got them at such a great price, because I can fit the children's size, SCORE!  They also come in hunter green if anyone is interested, AND has a small foot.  I am so enamored with them.  I even wore them all day at work.  Please tell my coworkers that you can wear rain boots all day, at work, sure you can, can't you?
sweater:  Brooks Brothers (thrifted $3)
denim shirt:  Walmart/Miley Cyrus Collection
belt: ? TJ Maxx

skirt:  GAP (circa 2005) -whats with that spilt?
rain boots:  POLO
Sorry for the fuzzy pics.  I got the SD card stuck in my computer, who does that?  Better question, who can fix that?  Anywho, these pics were graciously taken by my coworker with an iPhone.  They are usually pretty clear.  Better pics soon, I hope.  Still looking for the USB cord for the camera, wish me luck!
About the boots, they are lined on the inside, have slip guards on the soles, and they have wool tweed like brown material on the calf part.  Oh, I love them sooo.  Oh did I mention they are made by Ralph Lauren?  Yup, they are.  I know they are not as nice as the HUNTER brand wellies or the BURBERRY wellies that I lust for, but they will do.  So, let it rain, I got new boots!

SHOE ADDICT

shoes:  Jessica Simpson

shoes:  Steve Madden

shoes:  Guess

Ok, we get it, you were a size 7 1/2!  Why do they post the size on a big sticker?  When you remove it, the shoe ends up sticking to your foot all day!  That's what I get for buying shoes at Marshall's. (my fav store!)

boots:  Kenneth Cole

Well aren't we all a little addicted to shoes?  Cmon raise your hand if you have a shoe obsession and refuse to seek treatment.  C'mon I know who you are, dont be afraid to admit you have a problem.  It's ok, I will protect your secret.
I called, text, and emailed several of my friends and promised to protect the identities of the innocent in my quest to compile a blog post of everyones favorite SHOES.  I mean the kind of "favorite shoe" that you would take off in the rain and walk barefoot in order to protect them.  I am talking about the shoe that when you wear it you swear you here theme music playing with every click of the heel.  You know the shoe that makes strangers stop you and demand to know where you purchased such exqusite foot wear!  And if that does not explain the shoe that I am talking about take a look below and see what WE have compiled.  I think my group of addicts, I mean friends  have done a fine job in assisting me in my quest to spotlight a few of OUR favorite obsessions.  YES, I am still talkin about shoes!

(quick story)  I dated a guy once who fueled my obsession for shoes with his compliments.  He used to tell me how HOT my foot wear was and that he never saw me in the same shoe twice.  Say what? Well, him never seeing me in the same shoe twice was just a coincidence, but it  became a challenge to me!  Because, after that statement, how could I,  let him see me in the same shoe twice?  What pressure I faced now, but I rose to the occassion, I am no quitter thanks Flowers for the inspiration/compliment/challenge.
